Date Night with DeBranded

It’s no secret – I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. My husband and I refer to it as Hallmark day as we see it as a marketing holiday designed to exploit rank consumerism – but I’ll leave that rant for another post ;). I obviously see nothing wrong with the concept of celebrating love though.. I think we should do it all the time rather than on one day a year. This year I was less obliged to turn my nose up at overpriced chocolates and flowers and even found myself making plans with my other half on the day.. what happened to me?! Lol.

Anyway, as with any big occasion for us girls.. it’s all about the dress! What to wear is one of the biggest sources of anxiety before a big date and you sometimes find yourself shelling out big bucks to get that perfect outfit together. Well fret no more ladies as one of my favorite recent finds, Debranded Outlet, has you covered for your next big date.

Check out these two gorgeous dresses that are my picks for a night out on the town – whether your heading out for dinner with your boo or painting the town red with your gals and they definitely won’t be breaking the bank..

My first dress is what I picked for ‘a romantic dinner’ with your other half. This simple but stunning pink midi dress is perfect for looking like a million dollars without over doing it. I loved the pastel pink and the stretchy body con fabric is great for hiding a multitude of sins as it sucks you in in all the right places. I love the pearl and diamonte detail around the high neck of the dress as it adds just a touch of bling. The best bit? This dress would set you back less then £15..

My second choice was for a night out with the girls. This LBD had a velvet bustier with sheer fabric on top and a feather skirt at the bottom. I love how fun this dress was – The feather detailing around the skirt just made me want to dance non stop! I would definitely wear this if I was out clubbing with the girls, it’s fun and flirty without being too revealing. Similarly, the best part was the price tag coming in at a mere £12.. yes, you read right – both dresses cost less than £30. Are you beginning to understand why I love Debranded so much?

If you didn’t read about it in my original post, summed up Debranded carries popular high street brands at a fraction of the price. The styles are from previous seasons but that doesn’t stop you from picking up a tonne of stellar bargains that can be worked into your current season wardrobes. They replenish their stock on a daily basis so while I can’t link to these particular items, I would definitely recommend going down there to have a look for yourself and see what you can get your hands on.. Debranded is located in Slough, Berkshire on the High Street. You can find it in the Observatory Shopping Centre, just opposite the Topshop Outlet.

In case you liked the dresses above, I’ve linked to a few similar styles below :)

Hope you all have had a lovely weekend my sweets!

Thanks for reading.. until the next post xox

Forever Young

DPP_0007

Happy Friday folks! I’m really excited about today’s post as it pretty much sums up the kind of ensemble I am most comfortable and confident in..DPP_0015DPP_0087 DPP_0024DPP_0133DPP_0029DPP_0083DPP_0094DPP_0124

Forever 21 is a brand I discovered on my first trip to the states when I was about 16/17 and it’s safe to say it was love at first sight.. even though the years have passed and I am quite clearly no longer 21, my fondness of the brand and it’s affordable price tags has not faltered. I was over the moon when F21 made it’s move over to the UK a few years back and often find myself in their flagship store in Oxford street, scanning the rails for a fab bargain and leaving with a lot more than I originally planned to purchase!

For this all F21 look, I teamed a Colorblocked Georgette Tank in Grey and Ivory with linen grey trousers with a side zip detail. Now, these trousers are actually meant to cut off at your ankles but because I am such a midget, I had to roll them up at the bottom.. haha. I added a collarless duster coat in charcoal on top and slipped on these adorable pointed patent silver flats. Seriously, how cute are these shoes?? I love them and they are such a steal at a mere £15! You can also find them in candy pink and patent black right here.

To accessorise, I added this yellow chain strap cross body bag which helped break up the shades of grey a little and also added a pop of colour. I braided my hair to one side and grabbed my over-sized fedora and these grey sunnies to finish the look off.. & there you have it!

I really loved how this look came together.. effortless and comfortable but still stylish – would you agree?

Ironic that I would be wearing (50) shades of grey on the day of the films nationwide release haha. How many of you are going to see it for V day tomorrow?

Whatever you guys end up doing, I hope you have a wonderful day.. coupled up or not! ;)

Thanks for reading my lovelies.. until the next post!

Think Mink

DPP_0172

Hey loves.. as promised, here’s a quick look at my uber casual ensemble for lunch in central the other day.

DPP_0161DPP_0162DPP_0168DPP_0170

With Spring fast approaching, I was on the hunt for a lighter coat than the ones currently in my wardrobe. It’s important to have an ‘in between’ coat – something heavier than a mac but light enough to not have you sweating up a storm on the slightly warmer pre-spring days. For me, this mink midi coat was a great find! The light weight bonded fabric makes it perfect to layer up with jumpers on the colder days right now but equally great to drape over tee’s and tops when the weather gets better. I also love the colour – such a beautiful pastel shade, ideal for Spring! Oh and the cherry on top is obviously the fact that it cost a mere £28 quid. Bargain alert!

I kept my outfit really simple that day as I knew we were heading into the busiest part of town on the busiest day of the week – braving Central London on a Saturday afternoon is a task and the last thing you want to be doing is faffing around with what you’re wearing. I teamed my fav black Marianne coated jeans from WILDFOX UK with a light grey block tunic top from Forever 21 and threw my new ASOS coat on top. I slipped on my extremely comfortable but still chic Nike Air Force 1’s and accessorised with a pair of dark grey shades also from F21 and my camel chain bag from DVF to complete the look.

What about you guys, will you be investing in any mid-season coats?

Hope you guys are having a great week so far.. who’s all prepped for Valentine’s weekend? Overpriced chocolates and flowers anyone? Haha.

As always my lovelies, thanks for reading.. until the next post!

Gigi’s Mayfair

DPP_0020-001So on the weekend, Matt and I found ourselves a stones throw away from New Bond Street on Woodstock Street, in a discreet but classy bar and restaurant called Gigi’s.

Walking in, the first thing I noticed was the elegant decor.. the blue velvet booths, crystal chandeliers and marble table tops oozed class and decadence but a closer look revealed effortlessly stacked fashion and travel coffee table books tucked away in corners – a modern twist on a classic, much like Gigi’s offerings on it’s menu..

The first thing that arrived on our table was the bread basket which comprised of spicy breadsticks, Sardinian bread and two rolls, each flavoured with squid ink and green sage – delish!

For my starter, I opted for the Cornish Seabass Tartare with avocado, orange and sea aster – the dish was beautifully presented with the combination of the orange mixed with the greens on the plate really jumped out at you, especially against the blue surface; felt like I was looking at the sea! It tasted even better than it looked, the flavours perfectly balanced and the avocado, sea aster & orange adding depth and texture to the fish.

Matt went for the Roasted Octopus with Barlotti Beans in an Onion Broth which he absolutely loved! The octopus was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully, with the broth full of rich and intense flavor.

For our next course, Matt and I decided to share a pasta dish that really stood out to us on the menu – Spaghetti cooked in Mantecato Squid juice served with Oscietra caviar and Gold, yes you read right, real gold.

The pasta was delicious – the flavour of the squid was really intense and both the caviar and gold added texture to the dish.

For our mains, I opted for the Miso marinated blackened Cod served with Kale and Sea Lettuce. The fish was absolutely divine.. it flaked to the touch and completely melted in your mouth.

Matt went for the very manly option and chose the White Park fillet steak dusted with lemon and served with potatoes, black cabbage and yellow roots dressing… I actually didn’t get to try it as he was enjoying it so much he wouldn’t share – speaks volumes I guess! Haha.

Even though we were both so full at this point, we’d seen other people eating their desserts and each plate that had come out looked so good we just couldn’t resist!

I went for the Chocolate Mondrian which was just heavenly – moist chocolate sponge covered with a thin layer of milk chocolate with bars of caramel and white chocolate on top.

Matt went for their signature Tiramisu which steps away from the heavy, stodgy classic and instead you are presented with a deconstructed version. Every element on Matt’s plate was absolutely delicious.

Finally, after a pasta and chocolate overload, we had a latte to wash everything down and to give us that little bit of energy to get out of our exquisite food comas!

Thank you to the amazing team at Gigi’s for having us! I would definitely go back again – the food was impeccable, the service faultless and it is perfectly located.

Make sure you check them out next time you find yourself in the area – details below. I’ll be posting my look from the day on the blog soon :)

As always, thanks for reading my loves.. until the next post!
