It’s official ladies and gents.. the 70’s are back in a big way and I couldn’t be happier about it! We’ve already seen the high boots, midi skirts, suede jackets and patchwork denim over the last few months but based on what we saw on the runways last Fashion Month, we’re going to be falling down the seventies rabbit hole this Spring/Summer.
At Chanel we saw psychedelic water colour prints & silk blouses cut with huuuggee collars. At Saint Laurent there was coloured furs and patchwork suede jackets, cropped sailor pants at Sonia Rykiel and Gucci. Of course my favorite trend to have back has to be Flares – I can’t be the only one who thought Velma from Scooby Doo had a killer pair of pants on back in the day? :p We saw glorious flares on the runways at Coach and glam rock inspired bell bottoms at my favorite, Tom Ford.
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you may have already seen my love for flares in a previous post but I wanted to opt for a softer look this time and channel the 70’s while still firmly staying in this decade..
The flares are from BLANK NYC and I just adore them – the denim is soo soft and I love the elastic at the top of the high waist, perfect for tucking in a tee or a blouse! I teamed them up with this gorgeous grey pussy bow blouse from Wolf & Whistle’s SS15 collection. I love how the blouse is reminiscent of the 70’s era but the neutral grey helps you pull off the trend in a more subtle manner in case you’re not yet up to braving it with bolder colours. The blouse sold out pretty quickly and I’ve linked to a similar one from their website but keep checking back here in case you want the one I’m wearing.
I did my hair a little differently by backcombing it at the crown and pinning some of it at the back. I accessorized with a silver full finger ring and grabbed my Celine luggage tote to finish the look off.
It’s a simple look but on trend for the new season none the less. What about you guys – will you be rocking flares this coming season?
In other news, I caught some sort of virus yesterday and have been wrapped up in my duvet all day popping paracetamol like candy. My fever has finallllyy dropped and I’m hoping to feel a little more normal tomorrow – I hate being ill! Thank you to all of you who sent me well wishes on Instagram and to my wonderful husband for putting up with my man flu dramatics and looking after me
Thanks for reading my lovelies.. until the next post!
